| Lawmakers open to mental health concerns |

BLOOMINGTON — The importance of an effective community mental health system is on the radar of federal lawmakers and agencies, according to a contingent of 37 McLean County community leaders who recently returned from the One Voice trip to Washington, D.C. "This is a nationwide issue. They talk to people every day who have the same issue," McLean County Board Chairman Matt Sorensen said of the March 4-6 trip sponsored by the Bloomington-Normal Economic Development Council. Local elected officials were joined by business, education, labor and economic development leaders on the trip to bring the message of mental health services as a quality-of-life and economic issue to legislators who represent Illinois.
