| Green Haven prison inmates, guard hurt in fight |

BEEKMAN >> At least three inmates and a corrections officer were injured in a prison yard brawl this week at the maximum-security Green Haven Correctional Facility in southern Dutchess County, according to the union representing corrections officers. The fight on Monday resulted in a lockdown that was expected to be lifted Wednesday, the New York State Correctional Officers and Police Benevolent Association said in a press release emailed to the media. New York Department of Corrections and Community Supervision spokesman Thomas Mailey said one corrections officer suffered minor injuries to his hand and “a couple of inmates were injured.” In a brief statement issued Wednesday, the department said: “At least seven inmates are facing charges after a fight involving several inmates at the Green Haven Correctional Facility.” Read More. |
