| Canadian jail fire sends 20 to hospital |

Sixteen correctional officers and four inmates were taken to hospital after a fire at the maximum security unit of the Hull Jail in Quebec last night. Quebec Police say an inmate set fire to his mattress around 8 last night, causing the cell to fill with choking smoke. The 65 inmates in the unit were evacuated from their cells and held inside the jail's security fence. Quebec Provincial Police say the situation was brought quickly under control. |
