| Prisoner escapes, recaptured less than hour later |

An Upson County prisoner found it doesn’t pay to run from law enforcement officers. Cardell Stewart, 24, was being escorted from the Upson County Magistrate Court Wednesday morning when he broke away from his escort and ran. Approximately 25 officers from the Sheriff’s Office, Thomaston Police, Narcotics Task Force, and Department of Corrections K responded and within an hour, Stewart was located in an old barn at South Green Street and Cedarwood Lane by a Sheriff’s deputy.
