Perry County commissioners have approved an intergovernmental agreement between Perry County Prison and Pennsylvania Department of Corrections. At their March 10 meeting, commissioners voted unanimously to approve the agreement, explaining it would make the prison more compliant with the Prison Rape Elimination Act. The act is in place to analyze prison rape in federal, state and local institutions and to provide information, resources, recommendations and funding to protect individuals from prison rape, according to the elimination act's resource center website.
