A 44 year-old Burlington man who pleaded guilty last year to repeatedly sexually assaulting a 7-year-old girl died in his St. Albans prison cell early Tuesday morning. A prison guard making a routine check of prisoners at the Northwest State Correctional Facility discovered Shayn Turner having a “medical episode” in his cell at 1:40 a.m., according to a statement issued by the Vermont State Police later Tuesday. Correctional officers and a prison nurse attempted unsuccessfully to revive Turner and he was declared dead at 2:18 a.m. His body was later transported to Northwestern Medical Center. Read More. |
