3 of 4 proposed sites for probation office in Providence are near schools, daycare centers |

PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Three of the four proposed sites for the Department of Corrections probation and parole office are near high schools or daycare centers, a direct violation of the terms of the bidding process that were drawn up by the state Department of Administration. A tour of the sites reveals that two of the bidders, Associates Management, LLC, at 187 Broad St., in South Providence, is just two blocks from Classical High School; and Mashpaug Partners, LLC, has vacant office space at 79 Reservoir Ave., just a few yards from Dr. Jorge Alvarez High School. The Alvarez High School is in the city’s Reservoir Triangle neighborhood not far from the Cranston city line.
