A preliminary budget would close the Maxey Training School in Green Oak Township and transfer juvenile inmates to new locations. But the idea isn’t new and could speak to hopes among some officials to move Michigan’s juvenile offenders into private facilities. The draft Michigan Department of Human Services budget would close the facility on the north side of M-36 and fund the transferring of youths to other facilities. Read More. |
