COLUMBIA — South Carolina is closing one of its prisons. Corrections Department Director Bryan Stirling tells The Associated Press on Thursday that the Campbell Pre-Release Center is closing. The Columbia facility opened in 1975 and is a minimum-security prison for male inmates who have served most of their sentences and have the opportunity to participate in work release programs.
