Autopsy planned for man who died while serving prison time for death of toddler

An autopsy will be done on Michael Curtiss, who pleaded no contest to killing 15-month-old Chase Miller in Ypsilanti Township and was serving his prison sentence at the time of his death.

Curtiss, 35, was pronounced dead of a possible pulmonary embolism — a blood clot in the lungs — at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Saginaw. He had been serving his prison sentence at Saginaw Correctional Facility.

Michigan Department of Corrections spokesman Russell Marlan said no additional information was available about Curtiss’ death until the autopsy was done.
