FITCHBURG -- Christopher Maloney, a 1989 graduate of Fitchburg State University and the chief U.S. probation officer for the District of Massachusetts, will deliver the address at Fitchburg State's commencement exercises next month. The school's 118th spring commencement exercises will be held at 10 a.m. May 17 on the main quadrangle, and Maloney will also receive an honorary doctorate at the ceremony, the university announced Thursday. "Christopher Maloney has enjoyed a distinguished career in community corrections, working to create a safer country by strengthening probation and pretrial services in the federal court system in Massachusetts and elsewhere," Fitchburg State President Robert V. Antonucci said in a statement. "His work has changed how offenders on probation or parole and defendants awaiting trial are treated, motivated by the desire for better outcomes and enhanced security." Read More. |
