Prisoners at Tongariro Rangipo Prison have been completing impressive murals around the prison grounds using paints donated by Resene Paints LTD, Taupo. Painting Instructor Alison McArthur saw a fantastic opportunity for the men to further hone their artistic skills, while working as part of an Offender Employment initiative which sees prisoners assist with the maintenance of the site whilst completing National Certificates in relevant trades. "Art gives the prisoners something to focus conversation on and can inspire many avenues of positive reinforcement.
