BLYTHE, Calif. - Chuckawalla Valley State Prison (CVSP) played host to the 2014 National Crime Victim's Rights Week ceremony for both CVSP and Ironwood State Prison (ISP) April 9.

The event recognized 30 years of "Restoring the Balance of Justice" for victims and their families affected by crime. The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation employees noted that they strive to counteract the devastating effects of crime as they reach out to the victims and their loved ones, by reminding themselves that they are "their brothers' and sisters' keepers."

Guest at this year's ceremony included CVSP Community Resource Manager Kenny Kalian, ISP Community Resource Manager Carie Covel, CVSP Victim Services President Lisa Adame, CVSP Victim Services Vice President Sabrina Orozco, Blythe Mayor Mike Evans, CVSP Warden A.M. Gonzales, ISP Warden David B. Long, and special guest speakers, Ellen Rutledge and Natalie Copeland. Aderiana Vazquez and ISP Correctional Officer Calvin Williams provided music selections, ISP Chaplain Father Alex Nnaukwu, and the ISP Honor Guard presented and retrieved the colors.
