| 'Family' honors top corrections officers, prison employees |

CHILLICOTHE — Each year, Ohio prison employees get the chance to vote on who among their peers should be recognized and represent the institution in pursuit of a statewide honor. The local Correction Officers of the Year are Waverly residents Allan Szoke at RCI and Richard McBee at CCI. Employees of the Year are secretary Beth Gorby, of Circleville, at RCI, and health and safety coordinator Curtis Russ, of McArthur, at CCI. At Chillicothe and Ross correctional institutions, there’s always been a common idea voiced by the people selected: They say they are not just flattered and humbled, but that their peers feel like family.
