All Bradenton (Fla.) police Officer Prince W. Milton III was supposed to do was pick up an inmate and drive her back to jail. Instead of taking her right to jail, police say, Milton made an unauthorized stop, the two had sex, and now Milton himself is in jail. Milton was arrested Nov. 1 and charged with sexual battery on a female inmate after officers saw him stop his car in a church parking lot with the inmate inside. He was being held in the Manatee County jail on Nov. 2. His bail was $50,000. It is a crime for a law enforcement officer to have sex with someone under his control. Milton, 26, 1900 block Sterling Palms in Brandon, was hired on Nov. 6, 2003. Authorities began investigating him after receiving a tip that he was having a sexual relationship with the inmate. The woman, a trusty, told police she and Milton had sex on more than one occasion. The inmate told police she didn't want to have sex with Milton, but did so because he said that once she was out of jail he could help her meet the right people to make a better life for herself. After his arrest, Milton denied having sex with the inmate. But he did acknowledge kissing her and planning to have sex with her, according to a police report. |
