The pursuit of an escaped Floyd County rapist — headed up by federal marshals and involving several local law enforcement agencies — ended with the man’s arrest in Polk County on Wednesday afternoon. Police officials said fugitive Winford Reece Ellis, 39, ran from a Georgia State Patrol trooper and tried to take the trooper’s service weapon. He then led several law enforcement agencies on a manhunt through Cave Spring and into Polk County before officers and U.S. marshals caught up with him at a house on Friendship Road. Read More. |
