| Senator, DOC director tour Jacksonville prison |

Sen. Sam McCann, R-Carlinville, toured the Jacksonville Correctional Center on Wednesday along with staff from the facility and Illinois Department of Corrections Director S.A. Godinez. The tour represents the continuation of a conversation that began during the Senate confirmation hearing of Godinez. McCann had received comments of concern from constituents regarding IDOC. The two men agreed to tour facilities to see how they and the department function. “The correctional facilities of this state have multiple functions and extremely important missions,” McCann said. “Among them are protecting citizens from convicted criminals, providing employment to hardworking citizens and the goal of rehabilitating the inmates.” Read More. |
