VERNAL — A Naples police officer suffered shrapnel injuries Saturday when a parolee from Oregon attempted to disarm him inside the emergency room at Ashley Regional Medical Center, authorities said. James Robert Olson, 30, was at the hospital for a medical evaluation prior to being booked into jail following a bizarre series of events earlier in the day, Assistant Vernal Police Chief Keith Campbell said.
