| Northshore work-release program faces another lawsuit |

COVINGTON, La. -- A woman whose husband was murdered in New Orleans East when he was supposed to be at a work release job in Covington is suing the Louisiana Department of Corrections, the St. Parish Tammany sheriff, the company that ran the work-release program, North Shore Workforce, and the church her husband was working for, Victor Bible Church. Last week, Michel Miller filed the lawsuit in East Baton Rouge Court, alleging the agencies involved were negligent in their failure to properly run the program and for failing to properly supervise the inmates in it, her husband included. Miller was gunned down inside a town home that the Millers’ owned in New Orleans East in April 2013. He had allegedly traveled to the south shore without the permission of his supervisors at Victory Bible Church, the facility where he was to report to work to perform odd jobs daily. Read More. |
