Inmate’s death raises questions for family

ANCHORAGE –

Questions still remain following the death of an inmate at the Anchorage Correctional Complex earlier this month.

Davon Mosley, 20, wasn’t even supposed to be in the cell: Court records show his case was dismissed the week before his death. But nobody is sure if the paperwork ever made it to the Department of Corrections, or what happened to it if it did. And as Mosley’s family prepares for his funeral, they say it never should have happened in the first place.

“He’ll say, ‘Mommy, why’s my daddy dead?’ and that hits me like, what am I supposed to say to my son?” said Mosley’s fiancee, Vernesia Gordon, who still struggles to explain his death to their 5-month-old child. “I can’t tell you that baby, cause I don’t know myself.”
