| Hudson County sues state over hospital care for jail inmates |

Hudson County has filed a lawsuit against the state in Superior Court seeking reimbursement retroactively for the cost of long-term hospital care for county jail inmates, Hudson County Freeholder Bill O’Dea said. Before the Affordable Care Act established a “24-hour exemption,” no inmate in state prisons or county jails had been eligible for Medicaid coverage for long-term hospital care, explained John Dannadio, executive director of the New Jersey Association of Counties.
