| Authorities search for inmate who escaped from Deer Ridge Correctional Institution Sunday |

An inmate escaped Sunday from the Deer Ridge Correctional Institution in Madras, according to the Oregon State Police. Clinton Orvill Swearingen II, 31, was discovered missing about 10:30 p.m. He is most likely wearing blue jeans with "inmate" and the Oregon Department of Corrections logo stenciled on the knee in orange or red shorts, and a blue T-shirt with "inmate" and the agency logo stenciled in orange on the front and back. Swearingen entered Department of Corrections custody on Feb. 4 on one count of first-degree theft, two counts of second-degree burglary and two counts of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle out of Linn County.
