ST. CHARLES TWP. — Kane County Sheriff Pat Perez put his back into it Friday morning, breaking ground on the Kane County Regional Training Center. “This is a culmination of many years of planning ... and some level of frustration,” Perez told a group of local dignitaries on Friday outside the site of the future shooting range at the sheriff’s department. County deputies, corrections officers and court security personnel have been without their own range for more than a year after they lost the department’s Fabyan Parkway facility due to flooding, mold and lead contamination, “and now a wrecking ball,” Perez said.
