Law enforcement authorities continued their search Monday for two Haralson County (Ga.) Jail inmates who escaped through a ventilation system this weekend. A team of police dogs tracked Homer Brown, 18, and Robert Anthony Hill, 23, into a nearby wooded area Saturday night, said Maj. Steve Stovall, adding that authorities believe the pair is within a few miles of the jail. Hill was serving a sentence for felony possession of a dangerous weapon and aggravated assault with a firearm and is considered dangerous, police said. Brown was serving time for several misdemeanors. Jail officials said that after a similar escape through the jail's ventilation system in the 1980s, metal bars were installed on the system's pipes. They said Brown and Hill, who were cell mates, spent days and possibly weeks breaking through the bars and planning the escape. |
