YORK (AP) — Authorities are investigating why a former staffer at the Nebraska Correctional Center for Women walked into the state prison with a rifle and demanded to be let inside before shooting and injuring herself. The state Department of Correctional Services said in a news release Monday that Robin K. Staehr, 50, of York walked into the prison’s public lobby at about 5:15 p.m. Sunday and demanded to be let inside. Prison staff members recognized Staehr as a former employee who resigned in 2005, and they observed a rifle behind her back. Read More. |
