| Inmate medical care costing Craven jail more than expected |

Medical expenses for Craven County Jail inmates this fiscal year are more than a half million dollars, requiring a request granted by Craven County commissioners Monday to add $200,000 to that budget for the jail to finish the year. The request was presented by Craven County Sheriff’s Capt. Jesse Pittman and Capt. Lee Thomas, who told commissioners the department’s $400,000 budget for providing inmate medical care is already $52,000 over budget and all the bills are not in nor is the fiscal year over. Pittman heads the department’s administrative division and Thomas heads professional services and training and is the jail administrator. Read More. |
