Alaska State Troopers have pressed fourth-degree assault charges on an inmate being held at Anchorage Correctional Center following a May 31 assault against a correctional officer, according to Department of Corrections officials. More from KTUU Deputy director Sherrie Daigle explained the incident occurred while the officer was escorting the inmate to his cell in Delta mod. Officials report the inmate attempted to hit the officer on the jaw and right shoulder. Though the inmate has a record of four other incidents over the past six months, it was the first incident to involve assault, Daigle said.
