Kirsten M. Simon, 33, an inmate at the Anchorage Correctional Complex, was found dead inside her holding cell Friday evening, according to Alaska State Troopers.

Troopers said an officer found Simon, not breathing and with no pulse, during a security check of her cell at 6:39 p.m.

Alaska Department of Corrections Deputy Director Sherrie Daigle said Simon was brought to the Anchorage jail at 1:40 p.m. Friday on a warrant for second-degree theft and forgery. The agency said no foul play is suspected in Simon's death, and the state medical examiner will conduct an autopsy. Daigle said Simon denied having any medical issues at the time she was booked into the jail.
