An Oregon prison counselor who readies inmates for the outside world has been named the Department of Corrections employee of the year. Meredith Allen, who serves as a release counselor at Deer Ridge Correctional Institution, was recognized for her dedication, innovation, leadership, role modeling, teamwork, and mentoring. "She demonstrates a positive, can-do attitude and consistently exhibits pro-social behaviors to the adults in our custody as she helps them navigate their way back into society," said Colette Peters, director of the Department of Corrections.
