| Edna Mahan inmate sues state, hospital, people for $25 million |

An inmate at the Edna Mahan Correctional Facility for Women in Union Township has filed a suit against numerous entities claiming foul treatment at the prison. Golda Harris, 46, filed suit against 115 individuals and entities including the State of New Jersey, Union County Prosecutor's Office, University of Medicine and Dentistry, corrections officers, medical employees at the prison, state vendors and contractors, the Administrative Office of the Courts, the New Jersey Judiciary, the Department of Corrections and even a maintenance worker. Harris is serving as her own attorney. In her hand-written complaint filed first in Union County, then transferred back to Hunterdon County, she details numerous incidents over a year and a half. She claims she slipped and fell in March, 2012 while on a trip to the New Jersey State Prison because she was not provided with a wheelchair. She was allegedly denied an MRI after that incident. In another incident, she aggravated her injuries by jumping up when she saw a "huge, huge spider" in her cell, according to the complaint. Read More. |
