An inmate reported missing from the Winfield Correctional Facility early Saturday morning was taken into custody near Udall about 16 hours later. Jimmy R. Reed, 29, was apprehended at 4:54 p.m. Saturday on K-15, east of Udall, by KDOC Special Agents, KDOC Tactical Members and the Cowley County Sheriff’s Department, according to a KDOC press release. Kansas Department of Corrections spokesperson Jeremy Barclay said Reed appeared to be following the path of a river when he was apprehended.
