TALLAHASSEE, Florida -- Authorities have opened a new investigation into the death of 50-year-old Darren Rainey. He was an inmate at the Dade Correctional Institution. His brother and the ACLU say he died June 2012 after being placed in a hot shower by correctional officers. They also say it was a closet-sized shower controlled from the outside. An investigation two years ago turned up very little information. Now the Department of Corrections says they are looking to see if there was any criminal behavior or wrongdoing. Read More. |
