| County to hire consultant to help with jail planning |

Lewis and Clark County plans to hire a consultant to identify a site, cost and size for a new detention center. The decision came on Monday during a meeting of a panel that supports the county’s Criminal Justice Coordinating Committee, which was formed in response to recommendations in a 2011 National Institute of Corrections jail and justice system assessment requested by the county. County officials will review a list of companies that have provided statements of qualifications to find those capable of helping answer some of the key questions about a new detention center.
