Last week, the shuttered Dwight Correctional Center was to be moved from the control of the Department of Corrections to the Department of Central Management Services — what will this mean for the Dwight area? Probably very little, at least for now. Among the duties of Central Management Services is overseeing state property. With the former prison property under the control of CMS, an appraisal is to be done and then any other state department that wants the property could take control. If no state agency is interested, the property could go to a private party. The prison was closed in spring 2013 as a budget-cutting measure. Read More. |
