| Man Charged With Stealing From Florida State Prisons |

LAKELAND | A local businessman is in the Polk County Jail on charges he helped steal $1.5 million from the state prison system, court records show. Thomas J. Tomblin Jr., 63, is charged with scheme to defraud more than $50,000; conspiracy to commit grand theft; and grand theft of more than $100,000, according to his arrest affidavit. He was arrested Wednesday and is being held on $35,000 bail. Also charged are Tyrone and Christy Walker, a husband and wife from Gainesville, according to a news release from the state Department of Financial Services.
