BUFORD — Phillips State Prison was recently honored for its commitment to fitness. The Buford prison was given the “Facility Fitness Award” at the 10th-annual Georgia Department of Corrections awards ceremony. The recipient of such an award “must be a facility that organizes competitive events, demonstrates community involvement, sponsors community fitness programs and has a personal fitness plan for its employees,” officials said.
