| Prisons inspecting kitchens after maggot reports |

The state is looking into more than eight reports of maggots found in prison kitchens in recent weeks. Since January, there have been four confirmed incidents of maggots in kitchens of Ohio’s prisons, which have been operated by Aramark Correctional Services since September. On Monday, Department of Corrections spokeswoman JoEllen Smith confirmed they are looking at “more than four” additional allegations of maggots at “multiple institutions.” The specific details of the newest allegations and what prisons are involved was not released.
