Muscogee County Prison escapee Avery Javon Kirksey was captured Tuesday, four days after he walked away from a work detail in east Columbus. Kirksey, 26, was taken into custody Tuesday afternoon by the Georgia Department of Corrections Fugitive Squad. The inmate had been on the lam since walking away from a detail on Chalbena Avenue and Teresa Street at 1:40 p.m. Friday. Four hours later, a homeowner told police that he surprised Kirksey as he was leaving his home on Schatulga Road.
