| Inmates sentenced in 2013 corrections officer assault |

Two Arizona Department of Corrections (ADC) inmates, including one man sentenced out of Yuma County, will each serve an additional 10 years in prison for assaulting a corrections officer on July 19, 2013, at Arizona State Prison Complex – Winslow. “This was a despicable and cowardly attack on an ADC officer, and the inmates responsible are being held accountable for their criminal actions,” ADC Director Charles Ryan said. “Assaults of any kind against department personnel are intolerable, and it’s my commitment that such incidents will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. I am grateful to the Navajo County Attorney’s Office for their efforts to ensure that justice has been done.” Guillermo Caughlan, 25, and Salvador Reyes, 27, both entered guilty pleas to one count each of dangerous assault by a prisoner, a class 2 felony.
