LA VERGNE — A man charged with child rape, possession of explosives and aggravated kidnapping was tracked down and arrested in Elkmont, Alabama, two days after he led four local law enforcement agencies on a dangerous pursuit that began in La Vergne, according to a news release from the city. James J. Hummer first came to the attention of La Vergne Police on July 6 when Officer John Hughes was dispatched to a domestic assault call, the release states. When Hughes arrived on the scene, he spotted the suspect’s car leaving and attempted to stop him, according to the release.
