| County work release program still elusive |

With changes to Indiana’s criminal code taking effect at the beginning of July, it would seem the timing of Howard County’s pursuit of a work release program is ideal. The county’s Adult Community Corrections department has gone back to the drawing board, however, on where a potential work release center might be located. Community corrections commissioned a study from engineering firm DLZ in January to determine if a work release center could be housed inside the former Howard County Jail, which later was occupied by Kokomo Academy, a juvenile care and detention facility.
