Five Helena architectural firms will be contacted to see if they’re interested in helping Lewis and Clark County plan for a new detention center. The county is far from having all of the answers — such as where a new facility will be built, as well as its cost and size — and seeking professional help will answer those three questions. Voter approval will be necessary if the county is to replace its overcrowded detention center that opened in 1985. According to a timetable for the project, voters will be asked in November 2015 to approve bonds to finance construction of a new detention center. Read More. |
