JUNEAU | A 36-year-old inmate at Waupun Correctional Institution was found guilty on Tuesday of sending multiple letters to judges, threatening them with death if his demands were not met. Benjamin J. Biese was found guilty of four counts of battery or threats to a judge as a repeat offender and three counts of threats to injure or accuse a person of a crime as a repeat offender. He faces up to 70 years in prison and $70,000 in fines. Biese defended himself in a two-day jury trial. He said in court that he did not deny writing the letters, but wanted the jury to look at the intent of sending the letters out of the prison. Read More. |
