Prisoners to get hepatitis C drug

MICHIGAN (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A new treatment for hepatitis C that costs a thousand dollars a pill is expected to be available to inmates in Michigan, but may be denied to Medicaid patients without criminal records.

The drug, Sovaldi, made by a company in California, is bringing in record profits.

It promises a cure for hepatitis C, which damages the liver.
