| Former Lowell CI corrections officer accepts plea deal in DUI case |

A Belleview man employed as a state corrections officer at the time of his May DUI arrest accepted a plea deal this week that wrapped up his case with jail time and probation. Shaun Robert Gallagher, 31, was pulled over on south U.S. 441 after a Sheriff's Office deputy witnessed him weaving on and off the road. According to the deputy, Gallagher's eyes were bloodshot and watery, and he smelled of alcohol. He admitted to having a couple of beers and failed a field sobriety exercise. The results of a breath test administered at the Marion County Jail registered blood alcohol levels of .144 and .146. The state's legal limit is .08, at which someone is presumed to be intoxicated.
