| Water project set for Rome prison |

Similar to other water infrastructure upgrades being done throughout the city, the Mohawk Correctional Facility is slated to receive some repairs of its own. The state Office of General Services recently announced 15 construction contracts across the state, among them a project at the southern Rome prison with a maximum cost estimate of $4.5 million. The project is the result of new federal Environmental Protection Agency’s drinking water rule that strengthens monitoring requirements due to the potential health risks from exposure to water disinfection byproducts.
