Fire crews called to prison

LANCASTER – Firefighters were called Saturday evening to the Southeastern Correctional Institution after employees at the facility reported a fire inside the building.

Hocking Township firefighters were dispatched about 7:30 p.m. to the prison at 5900 B.I.S. Road. According to scanner traffic, Fairfield County dispatchers were told “something inside” was on fire.

The first Hocking Township Fire Department unit on the scene reported the laundry room at the prison was on fire.
