| Alabama's prison health care provider Corizon slammed with big fine |

A federal agency has slapped Alabama's private inmate health care provider Corizon with a $71,000 fine for failing to protect employees from violence at a New York prison, the New York Times reports. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration investigation showed that Corizon "failed to address the serious problems of assaults against its employees" at Rikers Island, according to the report. Corizon provides medical and mental health services to inmates at Rikers Island, the report states. OSHA issued a "willful violation" against the company because it knew about the problem but failed to act on it, according to the report. Read More. |
