| Corrections emails show persistent disregard for red flags on sentencing errors |

In the aftermath of a 2013 Nebraska Supreme Court ruling explicitly telling prison officials they were calculating sentences wrong, three Corrections attorneys and five records administrators met at department headquarters in Lincoln. Ten months had passed since the Supreme Court had spelled out the law. But the prison officials — including four who were disciplined this week after the Department of Corrections was found to have released hundreds of prisoners early — said they still weren’t convinced that the Supreme Court was right and they were wrong.
