NEAR ABERDEEN, Wash. – Housing former service members together in state prisons may prevent them from re-offending, according to the state's Department of Corrections. A pilot project started at Stafford Creek Corrections Center is about to spread to prisons statewide. In 2012 the DOC started placing most of the veteran inmates at Stafford Creek in the same living area. Staffers say the number of fights and rule infractions dropped among the military inmates.
